March 2017 – Income and Goals Report

Here is my monthly income and goals report where I break down all my expenses, revenue and goals for the month. I do this for two reasons, 1. By sharing my goals with you it forces me to stay accountable and know where I am at each and every month. 2. I do it to inspire you and show you exactly what it takes to create a passive income lifestyle. I want this site to be a blueprint for you, so if you choose to take that first step and pursue a more freedom bound lifestyle, you have all the tools you need.

***All money in USD***

Finances – Passive Income Only

I will easily generate $200,000 in revenue by December 31st 2017.

Revenue: $1843.60 ($6565.12 total for 2017)

Expenses: $1668.26 ($3984.31 total for 2017)

Profit: $175.34 ($2580.81 total for 2017)

Last Month Revenue: $2012.29

As I continue on my publishing journey I am faced with more realizations that you need to keep the pedal to the metal when it comes to publishing books. While I did get some new books (3) launched this month they took a little longer to get going. That along with not having a new book out in my main niche for more than 2 months meant a very stagnant growth period for my revenue. It is a little disappointing and sharing your goals makes it that much more real that I didn’t hit my goal this month or in fact actually grow in sales this month. Already for the new month, I have 9 different books coming out and am certain that I will grow and grow massively for the month of April! While Createspace was down a little bit, my ebook sales were up and that is positive to see since they are the highest since Dec 2016.

Another reason that expenses were so high this month is. I spent quite a bit on some other nonpublishing relating things that I won’t get a return on for a few more weeks/month. So naturally, that drove up March’s expenses by quite a bit. I also order 3 new books that will be out in April and spent some money improving an older book that needed some serious upgrades. By doing that I was able to take it from $9 on Createspace to $27. I have already started to see a nice jump in royalties over the last few days of March for that book.

** I did do some publishing work the book the Front Row Factor. I was in charge of putting together the book launch for it. I was paid a flat rate as well as a royalty share for the first 3 months. I didn’t include that in my business income since its a bit different than everything else I have been doing.

Income Breakdown

KDP: $314.99
Createspace: $1528.61
Other Online Income: $0

Total: $1843.60

Expenses Breakdown

Publishing Cost: $978.39
Bank Fees: $9.95
Courses: $134
Promotion: $9
Misc: $437.92
Equipment: $99

Total: $1668.26

Profit: $175.34

I will easily create 100% of my income from different passive income revenue streams by December 31st 2017 so that my wife and I can no longer have to work ‘regular’ jobs and have the freedom to live life on our terms.

I am making progress on this. My goal is to be able to quit my job by July of this year and focus on my blog and online business full time. Once we get closer to the fall we should know when my wife will be able to leave her job as well.

I will easily pay off the remaining debt that I have by December 31st 2017

Result: I am super excited about this one. I grew thinking that debt was not a big deal and accumulated some by just living beyond my means and buying things that I need. So we have been extremely aggressive on this front paying off debt and not accumulating any more debt by any means. Its a great feeling knowing that you are almost completely debt free!

I will easily become a master of my finances and improve in areas where I need to improve on by reading books and seeking out mentors who are getting results that I want.

Results: By doing these monthly reports it forces me to know where I am with my business income all the time. I love that! I haven’t started reading the books around this topic yet, but I will in the next few months.

Business:

I will easily grow my Kindle Publishing business to generate $5,000 per month by April 30th 2017 and have it at $10,000 per month by August 1st 2017.

Results: I have 1 month to hit my first milestone that and so far its been a bit of a struggle. With all the work that The Blueprint is proving to be, I have neglected my books and sales are showing that. April I will explode with books and bring out 9 new books that will help drive sales substantially. I feel my back is up against the wall and that is exactly where I like it. Here’s to hitting 5K this month!

I will easily look into creating a Kindle Publishing course to launch in 2018

Results: This should launch in the next few weeks. Its designed to help new publishers go from 0-$1000/month in the shortest period of time. This course will be the most updated and relevant publishing course on the market. Its proving to be a ton of work, more then I expected, but that is a good thing cause I want to deliver the absolute best product that I can.

I will easily commit to producing a minimum of bi-weekly blog posts (26 total) for all of 2017.

Results: 20 total so far. With everything going on, plus working my regular job, I just haven’t been able to find the time to sit down and write blog posts. With that being said, my youtube channel is gaining much more traction and I will be focusing on producing more video content than written content for the time being.

I will easily start Affiliate Marketing by December 31st 2017.

Results: I have started this on my own, but I don’t have a niche site or anything like that up yet. This will be more of a focus once I am working on my blog full time, hopefully in the next 2-3 months.

I will easily reach 10,000 people monthly through my blog by December 31st 2017.

Results: 493

Last Month: 505

I haven’t been focusing a ton on my site, but mostly on my youtube page for right now.

I will easily grow my YouTube channel to 10,000 subscribers and produce 300 videos by December 31st 2017

Results: 217 subs and 46 videos

Last Month: 84 subs 20 videos

I am in the middle of my 100 videos in 90 day challenge and things are going great. I have been getting much better at filming and talking in front of the camera. My subscribers have been steadily increasing and I can tell that my videos are starting to get more and more views every day. I have really enjoyed this challenge, much more than I thought I would. I can’t wait to see what my channel is like at the end of the 90 days!

Health and Fitness

I will easily complete a full marathon by December 31st 2017

Results: Haven’t started look yet. I did purchase a new pair of runners and have been out running quite a bit more in the last week or so. Forgot how much I love it and just how good it feels 🙂

I will easily sign up and start working out in the gym again by December 31st2017.

Results: Not yet.

I will easily gain five pounds of muscle mass by December 31st 2017

Results: Haven’t started

I will easily do a 7-day juice cleanse with my wife by December 31st 2017

Results: I think me and the wife will be doing this when we go to Vancouver, but we are not 100% sure yet.

Travel, Lifestyle, and Personal Development

I will easily travel back to Canada with the family by December 31st 2017

Results: Looks like August is the plan! Flights are booked!

I will easily sign up for Robin Sharma’s Personal Mastery Academy for 2018 by December 31st 2017.

Results: Not open yet

I will easily read 12 books by December 31st 2017

Reading has just not been at the top of my list for the last few months. I will get back into it, but right now I just haven’t been super focused on sitting down and reading.

Just got DotCom secrets in the mail, so I am going to start diving into that book in the next little bit.

Here is what is next on my reading list

Untethered Soul – Michael A. Singer
FU Money – Dan Lok
Tools of Titans – Tim Ferris

The Seventh Sense by Joshua Cooper Ramo
Abundance – Peter H. Diamandis

The Gifts Of Imperfection – Brene Brown

I will easily take the wife on a weekend getaway for our Anniversary by October 29th 2017

Results: Haven’t started planning yet

What will you accomplish in 2017?

The biggest mistake people make when setting goals is never checking in on them or measuring them regularly, that is why I commit to posting monthly updates on my progress, not to brag but to force me to consistently check in on my progress and reevaluate where I am.

I encourage you to make sure that you’ve clearly set your goals for 2017 and to even publicly share them, just as I’m doing right now.

You can share them with your friends, family, on Facebook, via e-mail, on your blog, or even as a comment below.

Again, by making them public you’ll have more internal pressure to follow through on them. The people that you share them with will also likely be following up with you throughout the year, reminding you of the commitment that you made to them, which will make you more likely to follow through on them.

So, what are your goals and resolutions for 2017? I’d love to hear what they are, make them public and leave a comment below!

February 2017 Income and Goal Report

February was an interesting month. Sales were down a little bit, but it was also a month that helped shape the rest of the year in a whole new way.

Finances – Passive Income Only

I will easily generate $200,000 in revenue by December 31st 2017.

Revenue: $2012.29 ($4721.52 total for 2017)

Expenses: $867.59 ($2316.05 total for 2017)

Profit: $1144.70 ($2405.47 total for 2017)

Last Month Revenue: $2707.23

February was a great month in terms of personal growth. Sales were down, I believe largely to the fact that I only got 2 books out. I also ran into some delays with some other books that I wanted done, those are due to the fact that I have a freelancer working on those ones. I have also started working heavily on my other project that I will be unveiling over the next few weeks, so my focus was off of producing books and the numbers show. I am glad I ran into this while my numbers are relatively low because I have course corrected and have a plan in place for this not to happen again. By far my favourite part of this business is just being able to control my income by how much I put into it. Its such a wonderful feeling knowing that the more time and energy that I put into building my business the more return I am going to get out of it. You just dont get when you are an employee.  I am still a ways off from being able to leave my job, but I am getting closer and closer each and every day.

While my income dropped a bit, my expenses did rise a tiny bit, not counting the coaching I did the month before. I almost doubled my publishing cost because I invested in some longer and higher quality books that will be dropping at the start of March.

Overall I was slightly disappointed with February’s results, but that has fueled me to make sure March is my best month yet!

Results: Stepping it up for March, more planning and focus on getting new books out…..

I will easily look into creating a Kindle Publishing course to launch in 2018

Results: If there was ever any doubt that mentors or coaches can help you achieve your goals faster then you can do it alone, then accomplishing this goal is going to take care of that doubt. My mentor has really forced me to step it up and go way outside of my comfort zone and I am so thankful that he did. Not only has he helped me bring this goal forward by months (my course should launch in a few weeks) but he has helped me narrow it down to a niche of people that I am extremely motivated to help and serve.

I will easily commit to producing a minimum of bi-weekly blog posts (26 total) for all of 2017.

I announced a little while ago that I am going to be doing a personal challenge of putting out 100 videos in 90-days. To be honest, it scares me a bit with the amount of work that this will take, but now that its out there and I see no other option other than accomplishing this goal. I am training myself to look at this as not being a ton of work, but a way to help a ton of people in a short period of time. I will announce when the 100 videos in 90-day challenge officially starts.

January 2017 – Income and Goals Report

Its a new year and I honestly believe that 2017 will be the best year of my life and my family’s life for one reason, I will make it so! That is right, my success or your success falls on the shoulders of only one person. It is up to you to make your life the life you want it to be. I have made the commitment to ensure that 2017 is a breakthrough year for me and will be honoring that commitment all the way through.

Finances – Passive Income Only

I will easily generate $200,000 in revenue by December 31st 2017.

Revenue: $2709.23 ($2709.23 total for 2017)

Expenses: $1448.46 ($1448.46 total for 2017)

Profit: $1260.77 ($1260.77 total for 2017)

Last Month Revenue: $2944.46

January was an interesting month to say the least. I was worried that sales were going to slow down a bit, especially after Christmas. Looking back at the month I am pleased with the results. I did fall a couple hundred dollars short of last month, but considering that I only got 1 book out this month (2 more came out on the 31st) that was not bad at all. I learned a lot this month mainly cause I was part of KMM Full Disclosure Facebook group, that helped a lot on expanding my thinking and seeing what is possible. I also won the Student of the Month award for January for contributing and adding the most value to the group as well as helping out other publishers.

The extra videos that came along with the course upgrade answered a lot of the questions I had, and even some I didn’t know I had. So far it has been well worth the extra $67/month that it cost. I see that as a valuable asset to help me scale up and reach my goal of 10K/month by August.

How many books did I get out this month?

I only released 1 more book out this month mainly cause of cash flow. I wanted to wait until I was paid for my previous sales before ordering more books and not use any more of our savings. I happy to say that I have paid back all the money that I borrowed from our savings last month and even have more left over from Decembers royalties that were just paid (Jan 30th). Also, the book that I did release was the fastest book ever to make a profit and was also quite a bit more expensive at $122. So that tells me that I am learning how to market them very well :). I did release 2 books in my fiction series on January 31st (total of 10 books now, fiction and nonfiction) they have made their first few sales and I think they should do well this month.

What did I spend $1000 on?

I made sure I invested in myself this month as well. One of the fastest ways to learn is to learn from people who have done it all before you. I did two things, I hired a coach ($1000 for 6 weeks) and I also invested in another Kindle course. I did that for the pure reason that I wanted to learn what was in this other course, so I can see if there were any ideas or things I can use to help propel my business even further and faster. I plan on doing a full review of both courses at some point in the future.

Fall 2016 – Income Report

How great have the last five months been?! I have a had nothing but a great time working, learning and finding out what it takes to build a business online. Internet Marketing is far more exciting then I could have imagined and I am still only in the very shallow end of the pool so to speak, heck you could say I am just in the kiddie pool with my floaters on, I still have so much to learn.

I am happy with the progress that I have made over the last few months and this blog post is going to outline the successes that I have had and my thoughts on them.

August 2016

Income – $2.79

Got my first book published and made a few sales, mostly just to friends and family (thank you) but this could have been the most important book as it was the first step to creating everything else.

Expenses – $327.29

I paid for the K Money Mastery, course set up my blog, and got my first (and it was also my most expensive) book published this month.

KMM Course  – $94

Domain Name – $23.48

Book Publishing – $209.81

Loss:  $324.50

September 2016

Income – $8.57

My second book got delayed, so just some sales from book 1.

Expenses – $132.64

Website Hosting – $48.14

Book Publishing – $84.50

Loss – $124.07

October 2016

Income – $16.28

My second book gets published and I get a few more sales

Expenses – $139.85

I paid for 2 books this month and they both got released early in November, I also updated the cover of my second book. Notice that I am not publishing books for much less then I started since I learned how to hire better writers for less money.

Book Publishing – $139.85

Loss – $123.57

November 2016

Income – $551.53

Book #4 was a massive hit and was the reason for such a large increase in income for November. Not only that but I had been learning so much over the last few months that things really start to click. In November alone put out and published 4 books.  More books = more sales.

Expenses – $327.96

This month I really turned it on for book #4. I did some Amazon PPC and paid to be able promote it in a Facebook group. The PPC was a learning opportunity, I know how to run it more effective next time, which should bring the cost down significantly.

Advertising/Marketing – $170.76

Book Publishing – $157.20

Profit – $223.57

December 2016

Income – $2944.46

December was a breakout month for me. I set up my goal of making $1000 in passive income by the end of December and I am just thrilled that I not only hit it, I more then doubled it. This was due to a few factors; having more books out defiantly helped but more specifically it was having them on different platforms. Createspace has been extremely profitable for me for my main book. From now on when I am launching books I will publish them on both platforms right from the start. No point in leaving money on the table.

Expenses – $291.90

Some of my first books that I published, I also wanted on Createspace so I had to get some new covers made. I also paid for a book that is not quite ready yet, but will launch early in the new year. I upgrade my membership to the Kindle course that I took to get the advance lessons and access to some other things now that I have more money coming in. That has been extremely helpful already.

KMM Full Disclosure – $67.52

Book Publishing – $196.47

Advertising/Marketing – 27.91

Profit – $2652.56

Profit 2016 – $ 2303.99

Looking back to my first few months on creating a passive income from nothing have been just incredible. Its not a ton of cash right now and of course it’s all saying in the business to scale it up to 6K plus by the end of January.

MY 2017 GOALS & RESOLUTIONS

2017 is going to be the most important year of my life…

2016 was the start of my journey to living the lifestyle I have always wanted. Earning a passive income online and helping others live the life of their dreams by teaching and sharing how I am doing and living mine. I am a person driven by freedom. The freedom to be and do anything I want. To owe nothing to nobody and to be able to give my family and friends all that they need and deserve. I refuse to go in the direction everyone else does and I would much rather chart my own course.

Below are my goals for 2017 broken down into categories. These are not the only goals I have, they are just the ones that I wanted to share with all of you. I will continue to post my monthly goal reports to so you can follow my progress along the way. Its also important to note that these goals were written down in my journal back on August 3rd 2016. I have been working extremely hard to build momentum throughout the fall to not start 2017 from zero, but to start it running full steam ahead.

Why do I set my goals this way? I believe that the language you use is powerful, that is why I use the phrase “I will easily….” with most of my goals. By starting my goals with that phrase it tells my brain that I will easily accomplish this goal. I would rather go with accomplishing a goal easier than making it more difficult. Its also important to note that for each one of my goals I include a deadline. Without a deadline your goals are simple dreams. Having a date that you will accomplish your goal forces you to start thinking about it subconsciously and gives you more urgency to get them accomplished.

My hope is that as you follow my journey that you become inspired by it and make the decision to create the life of your dreams as well.

HAVE YOU SET YOUR GOALS YET?

The biggest mistake people make when setting goals is never even checking them again or measuring them regularly, that is why I commit to posting monthly updates on my progress, not to brag but to force me to consistently check in on my progress and reevaluate where I am.

September Monthly Goal Report

This is my monthly goal report, where I share a monthly update on the goals that I have established at the beginning of the year. I have found through experience that when setting goals, there are 2 important things that must happen in order to ensure that you will hit your goal. First is to write them down. By writing down your goals you increase your odds of achieving them greatly. The second thing I do is share them with as many people as possible. Its much harder to give up on a goal when you have told other people about it.

So by publishing these it is my way of revisiting my goals every money, telling as many people possible about them and hopefully inspiring others to do the same.

Finances – Passive Income only

1. I will easily make $1000 in passive income by December 31st 2016

Result: N/A

Last Month: N/A

I launched my first book on Kindle at the end of August. It takes 60 days for Amazon to make their first payment so I technically haven’t been paid yet. The book is selling, not as well as I would like it to, but for my first one its all about the learning experience. Once I have the next few books out it should give a better idea of exactly where I stand. I wanted to create this blog with the intention of being as transparent and open as possible so that means sharing with you exactly what is happening.  I have inserted a screen shot of my first few sales below.

KDP Sept goals post

My originally goal was to earn $4000 in passive income by the years end, but with the reality of my first book and running to some hiccups along the way, I have decided to adjust it to $1000 by December 31st and will be able to scale it up in the new year especially once I have spent 4 months getting books out and know a lot more about how Kindle works.

You can follow my progress on Kindle thru my weekly blog posts here.

Business  Goals

2.  I will easily publish 20 books on Kindle by using the KMM program by December 31st 2016.

Result: 1

Goal:  20

I have my first one out, the second one should have been out, but the writer that I had hire turned out to be a scammer so I had to start over again and send the book to someone else. I am in the process of finding some more niches to write about as well as coming up with ideas to branch off of my first book. For October my goal is to publish at least 5 more books to bring my total to 7.

3. I will easily reach and inspire at least 50 people on TheAcademyOfLifeMastery.com by December 31st 2016.

Result: I am still learning about proper SEO as well as how to build a proper website. I only focus on this a few hours a week as my main focus is Kindle publishing right now. As long as I am putting up weekly high quality content that is enough for the time being.

4. Social Media – I don’t currently have a goal for my Instagram or SnapChat or Facebook yet.

5. You Tube –  I don’t currently have a goal for my youtube channel yet.

Health and Fitness

6. I will easily run 5-6 days a week for a minimum total of 30km’s.

Result: Some weeks are better then others. I really need to be most consistent with this if I am going to be running my first marathon.  You can follow my progress here

7. I will easily complete my first marathon by December 11th 2016. – CANCELLED

Result: I waited too long and they have closed registration for this year. I will sign up for 2017’s marathon though as soon as it opens in January.

8. I will easily do a 7 day juice cleanse by December 31st 2016.

Result: Haven’t set the date yet

Contribution

9. I will easily be a giver when I can be and actively focus on others over myself.

Result: This is one that I really want to get back to. I have been a big giver in the past and really want to be able to add more value to the people that I come in contact with. I will be the first to admit that I can think an awful lot about myself at times, so I know this one will take lots of practice and patience.

Lifestyle

10. I will easily complete my morning ritual 6 days/week by December 31st 2016.

Result: On track most weeks.

11. I will easily eat healthy and vibrant food to ensure that I have the energy to accomplish all that I want.

Result: I have been getting back to having smoothies each morning which I have noticed a nice increase in energy afterwards. Eating healthy in Mexico has been a much larger challenge then I had imagined vs. in Vancouver. In Vancouver there are so many more options as its a much larger part of everyones lifestyle. Here I am still trying to find healthy places to eat and more importantly better places to buy fresher vegetables, as well as other things for my smoothies and regular meals. It’s an on going process.

Growth/Education

12. I will easily read at least 5 books by December 31st 2016.

Result: I think reading is one of the most important things that you can do for your self. Not only do you get to sit down and have conversations with the phenomenal people that you are reading about, but all it takes is just one idea from one book to completely change the course of your life. Its just up to you to discover which book that one idea is in. I would always make my reading goals to read 50 books or 20 books in a year and last year I read less then 2, when I reflected on that this year I was so disgusted by that that I made the decision to change starting that day. I realized that I was making it to complicated and that I had to just break down the goal into something smaller and more importantly know exactly which books I was going to read. I have already surpassed the number of books from last year and it feels great.

I review each book that I read and give my thoughts on them here.

My books for the rest of 2016 are:

Emotional Habits by Isaac Jordon

4 Hour Work Week by Tim Farris

Rhythm of Life by Matthew Kelly

Daring Greatly by Brené Brown

Purpose Driven Life by Rich Warren

The Untethered Soul by Michael A Singer

Wrestling for My Life by Shawn Michaels

Live in Wonder by Eric Saperston

Relationship/Social

13. I will easily go on a date night every 2 weeks with Mariana

Result: We need to be more active in scheduling these.
